A variable is a property of a statistical unit. The page is divided into several boxes, one for each variable, where you can select values by click to highlight one or more values. It always starts with the statistics variable which is the main value counted in the table.

Tabellen viser sysselsatte med arbeidssted i Oslo i alderen 15 til 74 år per 4. kvartal hvert år, fordelt på bosted. En sysselsatt er her definert som enten lønnstaker eller selvstendig næringsdrivende. En lønnstaker er en som har utført inntektsgivende arbeid av minst én times varighet i løpet av referanseuken. Tabellen gir en indikasjon på innpendling til Oslo, men viser ikke pendlingsreiser. Tallene hentes fra sysselsettingsstatistikken hos SSB. Fra og med 2015 bygger statistikken på nye datakilder. For 4.kvartal 2015 ligger antall sysselsatte i alt 60 000 lavere enn Arbeidskraftundersøkelsene (AKU). Tidligere var totaltallet i disse to statistikkene samordnet, og viste dermed samme antall sysselsatte. Dette har ført til et brudd i statistikken, og tabellen viser dermed en nedgang i tallene for 2015.
